3-Star Spiritual Retreat B&B at the Foot of Chalice Hill in Glastonbury
Location & Setting
St Anne's B&B sits on the side of Chalice Hill, a 5-minute walk from Chalice Well and a 10-minute walk from Glastonbury High Street. The property is within a 20-minute walk of Glastonbury Tor and 15 minutes from Glastonbury Abbey. Guests can leave their car in the free private parking and walk to all major spiritual sites.
Accommodations
Rooms are themed after goddesses such as Arianrhod and Brigid, and the Stargazer room has a private balcony overlooking fields and sky. A separate yurt offers a secluded experience with its own kitchen, shower, and private garden area facing Chalice Hill. All rooms include a private bathroom, bed linen, towels, and a kettle.
Dining
Breakfast is vegetarian and vegan with a hot cooked option including eggs, mushrooms, and vegan sausages, plus a self-serve continental buffet with fruit, cereals, yogurt, and non-dairy milk. Guests can help themselves to tea and coffee throughout the day from a self-service station. Spring water collected from Chalice Well is provided in glass bottles for room use.
Amenities & Activities
The garden is being transformed into a wildlife sanctuary, attracting local birds and butterflies, with outdoor furniture for birdwatching. The shared lounge has a library of spiritual books, oracle cards, and large crystals. Complimentary bicycles are available for guests to explore the area.
Unique Experience
The B&B sits directly on a ley line, and the house is intentionally kept without TVs in rooms to encourage quiet reflection. Resident cats and a dog are part of the household, and guests often find cats waiting outside their doors. The property offers a guest fridge with milk and small bottles for transporting it to rooms.
Highlights
Location: Foot of Chalice Hill, 5 min from Chalice Well
Rooms: Goddess-themed rooms and private yurt with kitchen
Dining: Full vegetarian/vegan breakfast with spring water
Activities: Birdwatching in wildlife sanctuary, cycling, spiritual library
Unique: On a ley line, no TVs, resident pets
“This retreat, nestled by Chalice Hill, cultivates a profound sense of peace, amplified by thoughtful touches like daily incense and the availability of spring water. The hosts, Sue and George, offer an exceptional welcome, ensuring comfort with spotlessly clean rooms, incredibly comfortable beds, and a delicious, varied vegetarian breakfast. Its location strikes a fine balance, providing a tranquil haven while remaining a short walk from Glastonbury's heart.”
